By Andrew Friedrick
Hello! My name is Andrew Friedrick and I will be attending the University of North Florida in the fall. I am 18 years old and I have grown up in Jacksonville (FL) my entire life. I enjoy all things related to sports, the outdoors, and anything in the realm of politics and government. I grew up in a military family and learned respect for my country at a very young age. My parents stressed the importance of upholding the founding principles and values that America was built on to me as a child and continued to do so throughout my middle school and high school years. I have the highest respect for our military and every man and woman who is willing to serve our country and everything it stands for. When I look at my generation, I don’t see an overwhelming love of country, but a growing hate of essentially all American values. The support of capitalism is becoming increasingly less popular on campus as the apparent “benefits” of socialism are preached by an alarming number of professors. It doesn’t take much research to see that socialism has completely destroyed nations around the world, and yet millennials continue to believe it could work in government and accept it. My generation is the future of this country, and if the support for socialism continues to grow, we could lose everything we have worked towards as a nation, and our economy, personal freedom, and values will be completely lost. I’m joining Young Americans Against Socialism because I see the need for kids my age to stand up for what they know is right. I firmly believe that communism has no place in this beautiful country, and I will do my part to ensure that it stays that way.
