By Michael Manieri
I am an eleventh grader named Michael Manieri, and I am a new contributing writer for Young Americans Against Socialism. Originally, I am from Brooklyn, New York, but I moved to New Jersey when I was young. I enjoy reading about economics and public policy. My favorite economist is Thomas Sowell, and I enjoy listening to interviews that he’s given. I’ve been wrestling since I was in fourth grade, and I am Co-President of my school’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America.
I am an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Outside of school, I enjoy playing video games.
When I grow up, I want to either become a lawyer or economist. Eventually, I want to use my experience in economics or law to be elected to Congress. My views are most similar to Senator Rand Paul; we both support free-markets and the protection of civil liberties.
While I’ve never lived in a socialist country, I fear that, without an educated public, the US could become a socialist country. I’ve decided to write for YAAS because I want to do my part in preventing socialism from coming to this country.
Michael Manieri is an eleventh-grade student who is fascinated by economics and public policy. He plans to become a lawyer or economist, and he wants to be elected to Congress at some point in his life.
